Do not start the engine
An unstarted car usually only needs a drain. Starting it pulls the wrong fuel through the pump, filter and injectors.
Don't even turn the key to accessories
On many modern cars that primes the fuel pump, which is enough to move contaminated fuel into the lines.
Already driven and it's running rough
Misfiring, smoke, loss of power or a sudden stall after filling up means stop immediately and switch off.
Push it clear if it's safe
Get the car out of the fuel lane so the servo isn't blocked, but don't start it to move it.
