Common fails

What most often fails an inspection.

Tyres below 1.5mm or damaged

The single most common fail. Uneven wear from poor alignment fails too, even when the centre still looks fine.

Worn brakes or pulling

Thin pads, scored rotors or an imbalance across an axle will all fail the brake check.

Blown globes and cracked glass

A single dead indicator globe or a chip in the driver's line of sight is enough to fail.

Suspension play and oil leaks

Worn bushes, leaking shocks or ball joint play show up instantly once the car is on the hoist.

What you get

Everything included, no surprises.

Full Hoist Inspection

Every check done with the car lifted, including underbody and structural rust.

Usually Under An Hour

Most passenger vehicles are inspected and reported on within the hour.

Report Explained

We go through the findings with you, in plain language, before you pay.

Tyres Fixed On Site

The most common fail is a tyre, and we're a tyre shop, so it's sorted immediately.

Repairs In House

Brakes, suspension, lights and steering all repaired here, no second workshop.

Free Re-Check

Once we've repaired the failed items, the re-inspection is free.

Canberra locals rate us 5.0 out of 5

"Booked a set of four tyres online and dropped the car off on my way to work. Ready by lunchtime, balanced perfectly and the price matched the quote exactly."

Emily R.
Woden

"Had a slow leak that turned out to be a nail in the sidewall. They were upfront that it couldn’t be repaired and had a replacement tyre fitted within the hour."

Sarah L.
Queanbeyan

"Logbook service done properly, stamped and everything, for a lot less than the dealership quoted. Will be bringing both our cars here from now on."

Jason T.
Belconnen

"Steering was pulling to the left after some suspension work elsewhere. Wheel alignment fixed it completely, and they showed me the before and after printout."

Rachel M.
Tuggeranong

"Punctured a tyre on the Federal Highway. Called ahead, they had it repaired the same afternoon and even checked the tread on the other three at no extra cost."

David K.
Gungahlin

"Vibration through the wheel at highway speed turned out to be a balancing issue. Sorted in under 40 minutes and hasn’t come back since."

Frequently Asked

Questions answered.

Do I need a roadworthy inspection to register my car in the ACT?
Inspection requirements depend on the age of the vehicle and whether you're renewing, transferring or registering a vehicle from interstate. Call us with your situation and rego and we'll tell you what applies before you book.
How much does an inspection cost?
We charge a fixed inspection fee, quoted when you book, and it's the same whether the vehicle passes or fails. Any repairs are quoted separately for your approval.
How long does the inspection take?
Most passenger vehicles take under an hour. Larger vehicles and trailers can take a little longer.
What happens if my car fails?
We give you a written report listing exactly what failed and quote the repairs. You're free to have the work done elsewhere, but if we do it, the re-check is free.
What are the most common reasons for failing?
Tyres below the legal 1.5mm, worn brake pads or rotors, blown light globes, cracked windscreens in the driver's view and worn suspension components.
Can you inspect a used car before I buy it?
Yes, a pre-purchase inspection is one of the best few hundred dollars you'll spend. We put it on the hoist and give you an honest written assessment.
Do you inspect trailers and caravans?
Yes, we inspect trailers including brakes, couplings, lights and tyres. Call ahead so we can allocate the right bay.
